Poco – Cantamos (1974, Epic) (Cover/Inner Sleeve) (Design: Phil Hartman)
After graduating from college, Phil opened his own design studio and one of his first commissions was with a band that he would work with steadily throughout his design career, Poco. The album design features an inset image of the band, framed by the warm and bright textile, while the inner sleeve reveals this image to be the focal point of a muted tableau of an old-west saloon. The bands country-rock sound and Phil’s penchant for cowboy and American West visuals were a perfect fit.
