Rockin’ Foo – Rockin’ Foo (1969, Hobbit Records) (Front /Rear Cover) (Design: Phil Hartman)
In the late 60’s, Phil lived in Los Angeles and was an art student at Santa Monica Community College. He dropped out of school to become a roadie for the local southern-rock act Rockin’ Foo. He was tapped by the band to create his very first album cover for their debut record, featuring themes he would often return to (American Southwest and Asian imagery). The Foo eeked out one more record in 1971, and Phil handled the cover design once again, before enrolling at California State University to study graphic design.
